  • Coaches and/or their assistants of divisions U6 and above, must hold at least one practice session during the week, and are strongly encouraged to practice a minimum of twice per week. Scheduled times on Saturday are reserved for Instructional games. The site is available on a "first come first serve" basis throughout the rest of the week for practice.
  • A player may practice with different team in the same age division with approval of the coaches.

Postponement of Games:

  • Unexpected Circumstances: If, due to unexpected circumstances, a team cannot field a minimum number of players, the team shall notify the Director of Inreamural and the opposing coach and make alternative arrangements.
  • Inclement Weather: The Director of Intramural Program will notify all coaches/assistant coaches of cancellations due to inclement weather. Coaches are then to notify their players.
    • Note: It is advisable for coaches to establish a phone tree to expedite the notification process.

  • Under no circumstances are games or practices to occur under the threat of a thunder or lightning storm. Practice or games may resume only after a period of 30 minutes without thunder and/or lightning.

Instructional Clinics:

  • Clinics will be provided for coaches at the beginning of the season. The Club encourages all coaches and assistants to attend in order to enhance their skills and knowledge of the game. All questions regarding play or practice should be directed to the Director of Intramural

Safety, Health and Injury:

  • A medical waiver must be signed by a parent/gaurdian for each player prior to the first practice or game.
  • All coaches shall provide a conditioning routine for their players in order to reduce and minimize the chance or severity of injury, as well as performance.
  • The health and safety of each athlete is the primary concern of the coaches. Players will be provide adequate time for rest, water and snack during games and practices.
  • If an injury occurs, it is to be treated accordingly, by seeking proper medical attention, notifying the parents, and filing the proper injury report with the Club official.
  • It is MANDATORY for all players to wear shin guards. Players cannot participate in either practice sessions or games without them. There is no exception to this rule. Soccer socks are to be worn so to completely cover the players shin guards during practices and games.
  • Proper footwear is required of all players. Metal cleating (e.g. traditional baseball style, metal posts, etc) is considered dangerous for opposing players, particularly goalies, and is not permitted. Sneakers are acceptable though not recommended because of the danger of injury on slippery playing fields.
  • First Aid Kits & Ice Packs are available at the Club's shed. It is strongly recommended that coaches bring their own supply of ice, especially during practice sessions.

  • In no event should any coach or assistant attempt to physically remove a player from either the playing or practice field.
  • The game or practice session should be interrupted by the coach or assistant, and the player's parents are responsible to remove the player from the field.
  • In the midst of such an event, all other players should be directed to remove themselves to an area away from the immediate situation until the offending player's parent(s) have removed him/her from the field.

Supervision:

  • Coaches are responsible for the supervision of their players at all times. However, both coaches and parents are responsible for the conduct of the players in their charge. Coaches should make it clear to parents that the Club is not a babysitting service. Players should never be simply dropped off and left with the coach for an undisclosed period if time. Parents cannot "drive and drop" for practice or games without the coach’s approval.
  • Discipline: It is a coaches or assistants responsibility to ensure that all players abide by the Club/League Policies. However, it is NOT a coaches nor assistant’s responsibility to discipline any player who either cannot or will not abide by the Club/League Policies. Coaches and assistants will attempt to resolve any disciplinary infractions/problems which should arise by first discussing the situation with the player's parent(s) in order to attempt a workable solution and ensure the player's compliance with the Club/League Policies. In the event this fails, the coach and/or assistant is to seek out the Division Director who will attempt to mediate. In the event no reasonable agreement/solution can be arrived at, the Vice President of Intramural Programs will be involved, and attempt to mediate and arrive at a reasonable agreement/solution to the concern. Failing this, the Club's Board of Directors will meet and hear out all parties before deciding upon appropriate action. The decision of the Board of Directors is final.
