RHSC Travel Soccer is a comprehensive training and competition program for our young athletes to improve their soccer skills and experience the challenge and excitement of competing with teams from all over the Hudson Valley region. We have an incredible group of experienced and dedicated volunteer coaches, supplemented by professional coaches and trainers, that work with our travel teams from late-August to mid-June, including weekly practice from December through March in a climate-controlled indoor soccer facility. (Note that the high school age teams often opt to forego fall practice and/or games to avoid conflict with the high school season.) Our teams have enjoyed great success and foremost, they have fun.
While RHSC Travel Soccer does involve a degree of time and travel commitment beyond the requirements of intramural soccer while being manageable for families. It is not an all-consuming commitment, and our players are still able to pursue many other interests and activities. Typically, teams practice twice a week for 60-90 minutes at our Rockefeller Lane fields during fall and spring, and once a week for 90 minutes at the indoor facility in Milan during winter. Most of our teams play in the East Hudson Youth Soccer League, which schedules games for its fall and spring seasons on Sundays. Teams typically play 8-10 games each season, but only half of those require travel. There is always a lot of camaraderie and cooperation among team families, sharing rides and providing support to each other to all the players.
Tryouts are held in the Spring for the upcoming season. Players should attend at least one of the dates and are welcome to attend both if they can. The teams we field for 2020-2021 will be determined following tryouts and will depend on the amount of participation we get in each age group. We may not be able to cover every age group, but we will do our best to find or create opportunities for everyone that wants to play.
